At KOALA Conference 2025, we are dedicated to providing a conference that is welcoming and safe for all participants regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, and religion (or lack thereof). We expect conference attendees to demonstrate manaakitanga (show respect, care and support for others and act with kindness and hospitality) and whanaungatanga (making our place one in which all feel they belong). We will not tolerate any form of discrimination and harassment of conference participants in any form.
Adherence to this Code of Conduct is a requirement for all KOALA conference participants and covers all aspects of this conference including conference sessions, social events, and all communications (social media/emails). Conference participants found in violation of these rules may face strict action at the discretion of the conference organisers which may include expulsion without eligibility for a refund. The unacceptable behaviours include, but are not limited to:
Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
Unwelcome sexual attention or advances any time, including during social networking sessions.
Inappropriate and/or unwanted physical contact.
Intimidation, threats, or any form of abuse (physical or verbal)
Disruptive or disrespectful behaviour during conference sessions or events.
Retaliation against individuals who report violations of the code of conduct.
Any breaches to the Code of Conduct should immediately be reported to the Response Team (name and contact listed below) or to any members of the organising committee who will first speak to all parties involved to try to resolve the issue – without presupposition of guilt.
